Orthodontics (Braces)

This is an exiting time in the world of Orthodontics.  Dr. Cowgill and Schmit have  been providing conventional orthodontic treatment for many years.  We now offer Invisalign, the clear alternative to regular braces.  We are the area’s leading provider of Invisalign.  Invisalign can treat people as young as 14 but is most commonly preferred by adults who want to straighten their teeth but don’t want the look of metal brackets and wires.  We’ve found that a lot of cases can be treated in as little as 5 months.  (logo and link to Invisalign)
Our orthodontic care for kids often times utilizes a two-phase approach.  This consists of an orthopedic phase which usually involves wearing an appliance.  This often times eliminates the need for extraction of permanent teeth.  The second phase is the straightening and aligning of the teeth with traditional brackets and wires.  We utilize the latest bracket design (self-ligating) which has less friction which means shorter treatment times.
We also coordinate care with local Orthodontists to treat the more complex cases that sometime require surgery.
